Pizza and Pipes was founded by Bill Breuer in 1962 in Santa Clara, California. Bill opened five more Pizza and Pipes in California (Redwood City, Daly City, Campbell, Sacramento, and Fresno) and three in Washington (Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellevue). All had pipe organs, which entertained millions of patrons over the years.
Bob Paterson purchased the four Bay Area restaurants in November, 1979. He developed the pizza of the month, which carried us through inflationary times in the 1980's. Gradually leases expired, stores closed and when the Tacoma Pizza & Pipes burned down in August 1999, only the Santa Clara and Redwood City stores remained in operation. The ownership changed at least twice since then, and one of the previous owners sold the Mighty Wurlitzer organ. :(
As of summer 2011, the Redwood City Pizza and Pipes is under new management and we'd like to restore the place to the glorious experience it once was: delicious pizza, family friendly, and great fun.
It saddens us that we have no pipes, and WE ARE LOOKING FOR AN ORGAN DONOR.
Thats right, we're looking for someone who'd like to give their Mighty Wurlitzer Organ a fine home and a fantastic audience. It is our goal to give back to the community that has made us so successful for 49 years as we revamp and revitalize for our Golden Anniversary in 2012.
